Every product we recommend goes through the same process before it earns a place in our rankings. Scores are set by the editorial team before any commercial relationship is considered, and we re-verify pricing and features every month.

1Hands-on testing. We install and run every security suite on real Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices — measuring setup time, scan speed, system impact, and how it handles live threats.
2Independent lab data. We weigh our results against published findings from independent testing labs such as AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives.
3Weighted scoring. Final scores combine protection (40%), performance (25%), features (20%), and value (15%) into a single editor's score out of 10.
4Ongoing review. Rankings are updated as products change — a suite that slips in lab results or raises prices can and does move down the list.
